Chearsley end Aylesbury Towns unbeaten run and Spitfires remain pointless after heavy defeat at St Johns

Heavy rain during the past couple of days caused the postponement of three of our games this morning.  For those that did survive the downpour, there were a few shocks and surprises.

Meanwhile, the game between Britannia United and Nags Head was postponed after what looks like the black death has hit The Nags Squad.  Their list of casualties include a broken ankle, broken wrist and a broken coccyx.  Damage knee ligaments to one poor chap is nothing compared with one of the squad who has lost two stone in weight  through illness.  To top it all, three of their players are laid out with a suspected case of swine flu!!

**Government Health Warning - Avoid Winslow!!!!!**

In the last remaining Vale of Aylesbury Cup Round Two tie, Thame Athletic booked themselves a Quarter Final place after beating AFC Waddesdon 2-0 this morning.

In The Prem, champions FC Sparta Corinthians ensured that there is a new name at the top of the table this evening after leapfrogging long time leaders Springhill FC with 4-2 win over VTS at Haywood Way.  In today's only other top flight fixture, Ickford got their second successive win by beating visitors Bucks (Aylesbury) by the odd goal in seven.

In Division One, Doug Haines' FC Torpedo Aylesbury are looking good after an impressive 5-2 win over struggling AS Cavese.  Meanwhile, rivals Grenson, who were down to ten men after only 10 minutes when Karl Bateman was dismissed by referee Brian Sinclair for violent conduct, slipped up after only managing a point in their 2-2 draw with mid table Unique FC.  Alec Martin and David Daley were the Grenson scorers whilst Nick Little was on target and Nathan Brownsword grabbed a 89th minute wind assisted equalizer for Unique.  Despite the wind and the rain, it was an 11 goal extravaganza at Chedd Rec for Cheddington's new Chairwoman Ruth Aris.

It can be cold, windy and a bit bleak up at Cheddington FC at times.
But the trip now looks a lot brighter after the appointment of their new tough talking, not to be messed with Chairwoman Ruth Aris.

The game ended 6-5 in favour of visitors Meadowcroft United - a result that will see them compete in this seasons Tony Higginson Cup along with today's hosts.  Last Sunday, FC Sparta Corinthians Reserves travelled to Kimble Cricket Club to play LBG (Aylesbury) and came away with a fine 3-0 win.  The two sides met again today and in a remarkable reverse of fortunes, LBG won this one 11-0!

So now we know who will be playing in what cup comp this season.  Remember, the top seven in Div One will join the 8 Prem sides in The Tony Higginson Cup and the bottom four will join all of our Div Two sides in The Chris Payne Trophy.  The draw for both competitions, along with Quarter Final draw of The Vale of Aylesbury Cup, will take place at this coming Thursday's Management Committee Meeting.

We have new leaders in Division Two tonight as newcomers Jakemans Sports FC hit top spot after thumping early title favourites FC Wanderers 5-1 whilst fellow newcomers Aylesbury Town lost their unbeaten record in the wind and rain at Towersey when they went down 2-1 against an ever improving Chearsley Cricketers side.  At a wet St Johns Sports & Social Club, Southcourt Spitfires remain our only side without a single point after they went down 5-0 to St Johns FC.
