All Chris Payne Trophy Round One ties fall victim of the weather

This is the River Thame this Sunday which flows past the pitches at Meadowcroft.
As you can see, it's right up and the dog just can't resist a dip!

Heavy overnight rain fell on top of already saturated ground which meant many of our games were postponed this morning.

In The Tony Higginson Challenge Cup, Cheddington FC began what could possibly be seen as a 'defence' of their trophy as despite being the current holders of The Chris Payne Trophy, their league position at the time of the draw sees them enter this higher competition this season.  With many games being washed away, the infamous soggy Chedd Rec stood firm and it was the home side who went through 3-2 in a close game with LBG (Aylesbury).  Chedds'

Ickford FC made the long journey to The Winslow Centre to take on an injury ravaged Nags Head FC.  The game was all square after 90 minutes before the visitors went on to win it 3-1.  Martin Woolder, Dan Fraser and Paul Rogers netting for Ickford with Steve Holmes getting Nags' only strike.

Another venue that suffers with the rain held up well this Sunday, although that didn't help home side Padbury AFC as they went down 8-0 to visitors FC Sparta Corinthians.  A brace each for James Faulkner and Paul Alleyne with James Baxter, Carl Clay and Justin Gordon also getting on the score sheet.

In the final tie, Premier Division side Bucks (Aylesbury) travelled to John Collett School in Wendover to play Div One leaders The Square FC.  We billed it earlier in the week as a potential upset and with the scores standing at 3-3 after 90 minutes, it took a 120th minute strike to seal it for The Square who progress to the next round despite the visitors dominating.  Jake Welsh got hat trick for The Square and that naughty boy Stephen Richardson grabbed a brace for Bucks.

In The Chris Payne Trophy, all games were postponed today due to the weather.
