News and results from
today's league and County Cup games
HEADLINES - In The Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup, The Bell Topboys would have expected to see of MK's Great Holm Steel FC who are in a league lower than White Hart FC who they beat in the previous round. It was a tight game that ended 3-3 after extra time and the MK side held their nerve to win a tense penalty shout out 4-2. Leighton & District Sunday League side Pitstone (Sunday) are becoming a pest as far as some our sides are concerned! Having beaten Stone FC and AFC Belgrave in previous rounds in this competition, they knocked out Halifax (Aylesbury) 2-1 today. In The Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Trophy, Nags Head FC remain our only side left in this seasons County FA competitions after beating MK Generals 6-2 and it's congratulations to both sides and referee Tony Osborne in getting this game played this morning. With everyone ready to start at Meadowcroft, it became apparent that one of the goalmouths was unfit and dangerous so everybody jumped in their cars and headed to Fairford Leys where the game went ahead. In the Premier Division, VTS FC go one point clear at the top of the table tonight as they thumped Ickford FC 9-1 with Ickford having three players sent off. Rockwood FC's impressive start to the season looks like a thing of the past now. With reports of dressing room unrest after last weeks shock cup exit to Unique FC. they were unable to field a team for their game with Aston Clinton S&SC today. Bucks (Aylesbury) were promoted last season and they made a slow start in that step up. Things look like coming together now though as they recorded another impressive win today with a 3-0 win over Cublington. Yeoman FC raced into a two goal lead early on over Unique FC at Meadowcroft. The lead swapped hands several times before both sides eventually settled for a point in a 5-5 draw. In Div Two, Elm Farm played their first football of 2008 and carried on just where they left off in 2007 by whacking Padbury AFC 10-1 at Springfields. Aylesbury Exiles moved within a point of second spot by beating Ickford Res 5-2 at St Johns S&SC and Excel Dents continue their good season with 4-2 win over struggling FC Wanderers. Chearsley Cricketers stop start season continues as they comfortably beat Winslow Town 4-1 at Towersey and Cheddington Reserves had a narrow 1-0 victory over Thame Athletic in the final game in this division. Finally, the league would like to thank three of our top level referees for turning out at short notice this morning. Level 3 referees Adrian Gillett and John Scott were appointed to cover games together with level 4 ref Vince Torre. All these refs were involved in top games yesterday that would have no doubt involved lots of traveling. Without their commitment, games would have certainly gone without refs this morning.
