lowly Ickford Reserves
Grenson
FC's run in The
Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup came to an end in MK this
morning. They were soundly beaten 5-1 by Loughton Sports who,
somewhat surprisingly, play their football in their league's Premier
Division - surely they should be in the Intermediate Cup shouldn't they?
The
Vale of Aylesbury Sunday Challenge Cup reached the quarter final stages in
its inaugural season and there were representatives from each division
still in the competition.
Two sides currently riding high in their respective division met at
Kimble Cricket Club as Halifax (Aylesbury) welcomed Premier Division
leaders FC Aristocrat. Any hopes of an upset were non existent as
the Premier side won comfortably 8-1. Excel
Dents were the lowest placed side left in cup and they faced a tough tie
against last season’s double winners VTS FC. They put on a brave
display before eventually losing out 6-0. Unique FC also put on a
brave performance in their 5-2 defeat away to Aston Clinton S&SC.
In
the last of today's quarter finals, Nags Head FC are currently riding high
in Div Two and they met Yeoman who are currently down in the bottom half
of Div One.
Here's
the action from a cold sunny Meadowcroft:

A cold and frosty walk to Meadowcroft this morning.

After recent heavy rain and an overnight frost, the goalmouth was a cause
for concern for both Nags Head boss Kenny Askham (centre) and referee Matt
Blanco (left).
The referee made the decision that it wasn't playable so he took a look at
the bottom pitch...

...the ref has made his inspection...

...things didn't seem much better on the bottom pitch...

...but in the end, it was decided to take the nets down and move - game
on!.

"What shampoo do you use ref?" "Wash & Go mate -
I washed it and it went!!!
Referee Matt Blanco offers some unwanted hairstyling tips to both skippers
prior to kick off!!

Nags take the lead in the first five minutes as this corner finds its way
in. Steve Holmes eventually credited with goal according to him!!

Yeoman's Player Manger Sam Elliot conceded this spot kick and was shown
the red card at the same time.
Fraser Lamble converts to make it 2-0.

An early exit for Yeoman player/boss Sam Elliot.

First half action.

Nags make it 3-0 before the break with Alex Lawses getting the last touch
...

...and the half finishes with some handbags that were sorted out by
referee Matt Blanco.
Apparently, the only offence he saw here was that hat!!!

Fraser Lamble gets his second shortly after the break to make it 4-0 to
the Nags.

Referee Matt Blanco.

Yeoman's best effort rebounds off the crossbar...

...and this enthusiastic effort came to nothing.

Nags Head star Steve Holmes reckoned he scored at least twice this
weekend!!

Steve Holmes gets his second to make it 5-0...

Yeoman's keeper John Verrill put in another heroic performance today with
a string of fine saves.

...and despite the heroic efforts of keeper John Verrill, Fraser Lamble
(out of shot) completes the scoring with his third of the day.

Job done!
Fraser Lamble is substituted after completing his hat trick.
Final score, Nags Head 6, Yeoman 0.
In
league action, there was just the one game in Div One as leaders The Bell
Topboys welcomed Padbury Utd Reserves to Burcott Lane in Bierton.
They increased their lead to five points at the top of the table
when they ran out 3-0 winners today.
In
Div Two, Aylesbury Exiles played their first game at their new home at St
John's Sports & Social Club against Winslow Town. It looks like
being a good move so far for Rob Henry's men as they thumped the visitors
9-1 to remain in contention for a top two finish. Chearsley
Cricketers can't seem to win at the moment and they continue their
alarming slide down the table with a 7-4 defeat away to lowly Padbury AFC
and Ickford Res showed their spirit as they saw off in form Walton Street Rangers
6-1 in an effort to pull away from the foot of the table.
