Premier Division Champions FC Sparta Corinthians got their season off to a winning start with a hard fought 6-4 victory over VTS FC at Haywood Way.  Padbury AFC's first game in the top flight ended with a 4-2 home defeat against Bucks (Aylesbury) and Springhill FC got their inaugural campaign underway with fine 7-0 win over Ickford.

Britannia United faced a tough Premier Division baptism when they welcomed Elm Farm to Stone Rec - here's some first half action:

**Apologies, but some of the pictures from this game appeared to have vanished - I will be doing my best to get them back soon**

Elm Farm keeper Ashley Jenkins can only stand and watch this early Brit effort end up in the back of the net.

A safe pair of hands.

Elm Farm equalize with this terrific far post header...

...then take the lead from this long range free kick.

Everybody stands and watches as Elm Farm scramble this effort in to go 3-1 up.

Britannia United get one back to make it 3-2 at the break.

In Div One, Unique FC travelled to Cheddington just a few weeks after the two sides met in pre season game.  The visitors were looking at turning in a better performance this time around as The Chris Payne Trophy holders won that friendly with ease, 8-4.  It was not to be though as Chedd ran out 4-2 winners.  AFC Waddesdon's first game in this division ended in a comfortable 8-1 win over newcomers Aristocrat FC and The Square staged a remarkable comeback when they fought back from four down to draw 4-4 with FC Sparta Corinthians Reserves.  Grenson got their campaign underway with a visit to Kimble Cricket Club to play Lloyds Banking Galacticos - LBG (Aylesbury) FC.  Lee Benton scored twice in Grenson's 3-1.

In Div Two, two of the new teams meet when St Johns FC welcome Stoke Mandeville FC to St Johns S&SC - here's some second half action:

An early collision in the second half...

...and both players felt it.

Referee Jim Wallace gets the yellow card out for someone.

The St Johns keeper.

The Mandeville defence somehow managed to clear this one...

...and former Yeoman skipper and now Captain of Mandeville Sam Elliott searches for an explanation from his fellow defenders.

A fine save from the Mandeville keeper...

...and he's on hand to clear it again moments later with the help from a defender.
Stoke Mandeville went on to win the game 3-1.

Tony Castielli.
Stoke Mandeville FC's match winner with two goals today - yet another catch from Yeoman.

It was an early derby for Ickford Reserves and Thame Athletic and it was the visitors who won it by the odd goal in seven. FC Wanderers beat Chearsley Cricketers 4-1 at Bedgrove Park but the game was marred by a nasty injury to Carl Miller who was thought to have sustained a fractured ankle and a broken leg.

The game between Excel Dents and Southcourt Spitfires was postponed after a request to switch the game to Thursday the 10th of September under lights at Winslow United FC was turned down by The Management Committee.  Winslow United are under suspension after unpaid fines from one of their players which meant their home game with Jakemans Sports was off and there was a very late call off as the game between ACS Cubs and Aylesbury Town was also off after a suspected case of swine flu in The Cubs camp!!
