Big first round cup wins for all the big guns as Britannia United, Sparta
and VTS ease into the next round.  The Nags get off too a flyer as they put
10 past The Spitfires. Big wins for The Cricketers, Grenson and Mandeville.
Holders Elm Farm narrowly beat Cheddington, Waddesdon need extra time
to see off LBG whilst Meadowcroft United and Aylesbury Town get their
seasons underway with a win today

This Sunday, just like the corresponding Sunday last season, saw all of our league sides in Round One Vale of Aylesbury Sunday Challenge Cup action.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite all of our sides and here's a reminder why:

bullet

FC Wanderers declined the invitation to take part in the competition this season.

bullet

Leighton & District Sunday League side, Top Bell FC, decided not to join us therefore Bucks (Aylesbury) now receive a bye.

bullet

FC Torpedo Aylesbury were not able to raise a side and therefore they forfeit the tie and Excel Dents FC now receive a bye.

bullet

Springhill FC are not able to enter any cup competitions this season

bullet

Thame Athletic FC were the side that originally received a bye when the draw was made as there were only 31 teams in the hat at that time.

bullet

Winslow Town are STILL under Country FA suspension and their tie will be awarded to ACS Cubs.

Last seasons cup winners Elm Farm welcomed Chris Payne Trophy winners Cheddington and it was a close tie with the holders eventually winning through 3-1.  AFC Waddesdon needed extra time to beat fellow Div One side LBG (Aylesbury) 5-3 and AS Cavese's first run out of the season ended in a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Grenson.

FC Sparta Corinthians Reserves were a bit shy in revealing the full time result when they phoned it in, but we believe they were thumped at least 13-3 in the end by Britannia United and in the all Prem clash, Ickford lost 6-2 at home to FC Sparta Corinthians.

When Unique FC last met Chearsley Cricketers, it ended in The Cricketers losing and relegation.  The two sides met at Edinburgh Sports Ground today and here's the action:

Unique FC's pre match huddle.

The Cricketers hit the post within a minute of the kick off...

...then take the lead moments later.

Cricketers' Ben Lazaruk is fouled 25 yards out...

...he picks himself up to take a strike at goal...

...it's looking good so far...

...2-0.

Unique were under pressure from the word go and this was the closest they came in the first half as this effort was cleared off the line.

3-0.

Round the keeper...

...4-0.

Round the keeper again, surely it's 5...?

...it bounces back off the bar before Ben Lazaruk slots it home.

Yellow card for Unique's Stephen Richardson!

Unique's left back Marc Thoday replaced Adam Green in goal for the second half.
His first job was to stand and watch this effort fly past him...

...and his second job was to pick the ball out of the back of the net, 6-0.

Unique FC's Vice Captain Scott Donald.

You know what happens when you try and put back a corner flag that has fallen over?
You guessed it, 7-0!!

Some consolation for Unique, 7-1 now.

This Unique effort comes back off the post.

Ben Lazaruk is temporary thwarted by keeper Thoday...

...bur manages to thump home number 8.

9-1.

FIRE!!!

On fire.
Chearsley Cricketers' Ben Lazaruk hit four today.
His mate Dan Perry also weighed in with a hat trick this morning as they progress to round two after hammering Unique FC 9-1.

Jakemans Sports played their first game of Sunday footie, but they were well beaten 6-1 by VTS FC.  Aristocrat FC got their season going with a trip to Walton Court (via Edinburgh Sports Ground) to play Stoke Mandeville FC.  They were looking for a much improved performance from when the two sides met pre season when Mandeville won that one 9-1.  It was only slightly worse this time, 10-1 the final score with Tony Castielli adding another 4 goals to the two he got last week.

The Square FC couldn't produce the heroics of last week when they came from 4-0 down to grab a point after Premier Division Padbury AFC ended their cup hopes with a 4-2 win.  St Johns welcomed Meadowcroft United and it's the visitors who are celebrating tonight after a fine 4-3 win - their first success of their existence.

Two more sides got their seasons underway this weekend after a lay off last Sunday when Southcourt Spitfires travelled to The Winslow Centre to take on Nags Head. It was day to forget for The Spitfires, but The Nags are off too a cracker as they romped it 10-0.

In the late kick off, Aylesbury Town were another first time out winner as they won 4-1 away at Ickford Reserves.

Here are all of today's results:
