News from all of today's
league games.
HEADLINES - Referees Secretary Jim Wallace contacted me at 8.30pm on the Saturday night too inform me that the Premier Division game between VTS FC and Ickford was postponed as no referees are available to do the game. With only 30 sides in our league, this means that at the very extreme, we will only ever need 30 referees in any one week. Realistically, we only ever need no more than 15 refs to cover our games on a normal Sunday. Today's postponements highlights the ever growing problem of referee shortage in the County. Jim spent the evening contacting around 15 referees to do the game, but with no joy. In the Prem game that did go ahead, Rockwood beat Chandos Arms 3-0 In Div One, The Bell Topboys took on Cublington at Edinburgh Sports Ground and consolidated their place at the top of the table with 4-0 win - read more about it on the Topboys website here. Halifax (Aylesbury) have had to wait until today to start their season and it was well worth the wait as they beat in form Unique FC 4-2 at Kimble Cricket Club. Bucks (Aylesbury) have struggled since coming up as champs last season, but they got things firmly back on track against old rival Yeoman (formerly the Ducks of course) by thumping them 7-1 and you can read more on The Bucks' website here. In a repeat of last seasons Chris Payne Trophy final, AFC Belgrave took on Padbury Utd Res at Westcott. No revenge of that final defeat for Padbury today as they were comfortably beaten 6-0, however, there may still be a chance for some revenge as the two sides meet again in the league next week - Incidentally, all of today's Div One games see the reverse fixtures take place next week! In Div Two, Elm Farm remain top after an impressive 5-0 win away at unbeaten Cheddington Reserves - see the Elm Farm FC website here for more. Hot on their heels though are Nags Head who beat Excel Dents 3-1. The Nags report is on their website here and The Excel Dents website provides their match report here. Ickford Reserves notched up their first win of the season with a narrow 3-2 win over Chearsley Cricketers at the Rec - you can read more on The Cricketers website here and it's congratulations to Walton Street Rangers who never give up and are eventually rewarded with their first win of the season with a 4-2 win away at Thame Athletic. Winslow Town continued their great start to the season and they remain joint top after their 3-1 win away at neighbours Padbury AFC. Aylesbury Exiles remain joint top after a close game at home to basement club FC Wanderers. The normally prolific Exiles all rounder Ryan Collings squandered a hatful of chances before eventually hitting the winner before half time in their tight 2-1. The Wanderers have their brave keeper Chris Finch to thank for keeping them in the game with a string of excellent saves.
