Lucky 7 for Ickford. A point
for champions VTS is enough to take top spot in the Prem as Rockwood lose
out to FC Aristocrat
In The County Junior Cup, Topboys see off MK Premier
opposition in style. Yeoman nick it at the death. Belgrave
thump Unique in the all Aylesbury tie. Halifax (Aylesbury) win in MK
but Stone lose at Pitstone. Confusion surrounds the postponement of
Grensons game
In the trophy, Cricketers progress without kicking a ball. Nags win
at Stewkley, but the Exiles lose out to New Stoke City. Wanderers
need extra time to see off Dents in the other all Aylesbury tie
Seven is the lucky
number for Ickford FC today as they won for the first time in seven league
attempts today with a 7-0 win away at Chandos Arms. Rockwood were
knocked off top spot with a 2-1 defeat to FC Aristocrat and its champions
VTS FC who are sitting at the top of the pile after a 1-1 draw away to
Aston Clinton S&SC.
The other league
game due for today was postponed as Winslow Town were unable to field a
team for the game with Div Two leaders Elm Farm.
In The
Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup, Bell Topboys FC hosted White Hart
FC from The Milton Keynes Sunday League Premier Division. The
supposed gulf in class was non existent as Shayne Simpson's men eased
through to the next round with a resounding 7-0 win. AFC Belgrave
welcomed fellow SLN ASFC side Unique FC to Westcott and had no problems as
they won 6-1. Stone FC travelled to Pitstone (Sunday) without any
success as they lost out 4-1 whilst Halifax (Aylesbury) had an impressive
3-1 win in MK over Machzone Rovers. There's uncertainty surrounding
the postponement of the game between Grenson and Loughton Sports.
Apparently, the opponents from MK arrived late and the game didn't go
ahead - one for the County FA to sort out!
In
the final game in this competition, Yeoman FC welcomed Open University
Reserves to Fairford Leys. Yeoman's Joe Hawkins gave his side a 1-0
lead at half time and here is some second half action:

The Open University FC striker goes down in a heap and referee Mike Dobson
gives the penalty.

Up steps the penalty taker...

...and it's brilliantly saved by Yeoman keeper John Verrill.

All that's missing from this picture is the handbags!!

Another fine save from keeper Verrill...

...before Joe Moran's spectacular volley makes it 2-0.

Well saved again...

...but the keeper can do nothing with the follow up from the Open University
striker. 2-1 now and it's game on.

An almighty scramble sees the ball end up in the back of the Yeoman net
and it's 2-2.

With extra time looming, Yeoman's Joe Hawkins (7) heads home this late
winner to see his side through to round four.
Final score, Yeoman FC 3, Open University Reserves FC 2.
In
The
Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Trophy, Nags Head had an impressive 3-1
win away at Stewkley FC of The Leighton & District Sunday
League. In another all Aylesbury tie, FC Wanderers needed extra time
to see off the challenge of FC Wanderers, 3-2 the final outcome in this
close game. Aylesbury Exiles lost out 4-2 to MK's New Stoke City FC
and in the final game in this comp, Chearsley Cricketers were left with no
opponents to play at Towersey this morning as their MK opponents, Inter
Inchley Reserves failed to show.
