Aylesbury Town drop points in Div Two with a draw at St Johns as Mandeville pull clear with a win over Thame.  Cricketers win well to bring Dents' good run to an end, Spitfires crash land again and Wanderers climb to second in the table with a win over Winslow

Current SLN Aylesbury Sunday Football Combination champions FC Sparta Corinthians were the latest side to take on newcomers or Springhill FC in what could arguably be billed as the game that could determine our league winners - even this early on in the season.  With both sides unbeaten with 100% records so far, it was the champs that raced into a  3-0 half time lead.  Despite the expected Springhill fightback, James Baxter's black and whites came home safely with a 4-3 win, even after missing a penalty late on.

As things stand with the current fixture list, Springhill FC now have over one month to lick their wounds and re group before they next take to the field.

The game between VTS FC and Nags Head was abandoned after 10 minutes after a serious injury to one of the players.  The score was goalless at the time.  We have no further information on this incident, but the league and all those involved in it, wish this chap a speedy recovery.

Britannia United entered The FA Sunday Cup this season and they took on North West Neasden FC who are currently leading the way in The Jewish Chronicle Maccabi Southern Football League.  With 8 minutes left, Brit were leading 2-0 through two Aston Goss goals, but the visitors fought back to make it 2-2 after 90 minutes.  Sadly, Brit then went on to bow out 4-2 after extra time.

In Division One, leaders Grenson took the opportunity of extending their lead at the top of the table as they beat AS Cavese 3-1.  Simon Pykett, Dan Piggott and Amin Jmil were all on target as they now pull clear at the top of t.  Unique FC improved a little last time out and they registered their first points of the season with a 2-0 today over Aristocrat FC.  It was a day to both remember and forget though for Aristocrat keeper Aaron Billingham as he gifted goals to both Dan Nicholls and Ben Mott before producing a string of fine saves to keep his side in it.  LBG (Aylesbury) regained last weeks dropped points after a 4-2 home win against Cheddington at Kimble Cricket Club to keep them in contention at the top.

Meadowcroft United took on The Square in the final game in this division and here's some of the action:

Another one of our 'Sixty something' year old refs in action today.
The Aylesbury & District Football League Chairman, Mr Peter Rice.
As well as his game in The Oving Village Cup going to extra time Yesterday, Peter will be out reffing in a youth game later this same day - making it 7 games in 9 days.

Caught cold!!
All of us, including the Meadowcroft keeper, were caught out by this spectacular long range effort in the opening few minutes as The Square go 1-0 up.

The Meadowcroft wall looks to have everything covered!!

Kerry Jeffrey's free kick comes to nothing.

Unlike those overpaid Premiership ponces who cry to the referee when the aggro goes on at corners, it's push, shove, grab and laugh for us.

Even Mr Rice wants to get in on the action.

CONTROVERSY!!
The Square's keeper is way out of his area and he takes out the Meadowcroft striker...

...looks bad...

...but with defenders covering, it's just yellow.

MORE CONTROVERSY!!
Kerry Jeffrey (far left) looks to have made it 2-0 right on the stroke of half time...

...but referee Mr Rice had earlier blown as the big hand on that big watch had reached 45!!

A star substitution for Meadowcroft United maybe?

2-0 to The Square and Kerry Jeffrey bags it.

Kerry Jeffrey

Mr Rice wasn't best pleased at some of the naughty words being used, so he called the two skippers together to get them to sort their players out...

...but some just don't listen!!

Perfectly straight mate!

3-0 to The Square from a corner...

...and 4-0 moments later from a thrown-in.

Meadowcroft go close.

Chillin out as Autumn comes to Aylesbury.

Meadowcroft go close at the end...

...but it's The Square's WAGS who are smiling as their chaps run out 4-0 winners - a result that puts them second in the table tonight

In Div Two. Leaders Aylesbury Town would feel that it's points dropped as they could only mange a 1-1 draw with St Johns whilst Stoke Mandeville took advantage with a 5-2 win at home to Thame Athletic.  Excel Dents went into Sundays away game with struggling Chearsley Cricketers in fine form, but it was a fine victory in the end for The Cricketers who ran our 5-2 winners.  Things look to be somewhat of struggle for Southcourt Spitfires and despite a change in management this week, they went down 6-2 at home to Ickford Reserves today.

FC Wanderers have climbed quietly into second place and they don't look to be missing the services of Carl 'Brian Potter' Miller in any way whatsoever!!  A Steve Keating strike and a hat trick from Stuart 'Dizzee Rascal' Creaser gave Jon Eley's men a 4-2 win over in form Winslow Town.

FC Wanderers' most famous armchair fan.
Carl Miller.
