We were back to league business this Sunday after a short break for some cup action.

In The Prem, Springhill FC played their first 'away' fixture when Bucks (Aylesbury) were the visitors.  Both sides had made a winning start in their first games a fortnight ago and it's the newcomers who sit proudly at the top of the table tonight after a resounding 6-1 win.  Ickford lost heavily in their first two games and things didn't improve this week when they were thumped 6-0 at Elm Farm.  Nags Head got their league programme underway with a visit from Prem newcomers Padbury AFC and it was the away side that eventually came through this close game with a 2-1 win.  Britannia United were beaten in their first league game by last seasons runners up and it was another tough test this time out as champions FC Sparta Corinthians were the opponents.  It's two from two for the champs now as they ran out 6-3 winners at Haywood Way.

In Div One, Aristocrat FC, who made it into the league at the eleventh hour, have took some heavy beatings in their small existence.  However, there were no signs of giving up today as they held on for an encouraging 4-3 win over much fancied AS Cavese.  FC Torpedo Aylesbury finally got their season underway when they welcomed LBG (Aylesbury) who were two divisions higher than them last season.  The gulf in class appeared to have shone through as The Galacticos won it 3-0.  That same gap also existed between Grenson and AFC Waddesdon last season and these two sides met this Sunday.  Niall Pritchard's Div Two Champions of last season ensured that the gulf in class is shortening when they won the game 3-0.

The Square FC faced Cheddington FC this Sunday with both sides feeling justifyingly satisfied after their first league outings a fortnight ago.  The Square drew 4-4 last time out and it ended 3-3 between the two sides today.  Unique FC and FC Sparta Corinthians Reserves both suffered cup horror shows last weekend and the two teams battled it out today.  Much thinking to do for the Unique FC management now as they took another heavy hammering, 9-3 the final score.

In Div Two, several sides were either playing their first league games and for some, it was their first outing this season.  Jakemans Sports were in league action for the first time and they welcomed Excel Dents to St John's S&SC who were also playing their first game of the season.  Justin Fielding missed out on pre season action with injury, but his two second half goals gave them a 3-1 win with Matt Bignell netting for Dents late in the second half.  Two more sides also playing their first league games met when Southcourt Spitfires took on Aylesbury Town.  The Spitfires needed to recover quick after last weeks drubbing, but it wasn't to be as Town won it 6-2 to make it two wins from two.

Two big cup winners from last weekend faced each other when Chearsley Cricketers were the visitors to Stoke Mandeville.  It's differing fortunes for both these sides as Mandeville remain undefeated whilst The Cricketers seek to find that cup form, 6-2 the final score to the new boys.  In the final game, Thame Athletic and St Johns fought out a tight 1-1 draw that sees Richard Kyson's Oxfordshire side remain unbeaten so far.

Sadly, there were two games off in Division Two this Sunday.  Winslow Town look to have sorted things out with The County FA, however, things didn't get sorted in time - possibly due to the postal strike - so their game at Ickford Reserves was off.  ACS Cubs have hit problems which looks like being the end for them.  More news when we get it officially but for now, their game with FC Wanderers was also off.
