Div Two programme wiped out due to suspensions and pitch problems

In The County FA's top Sunday competition - The Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Intermediate Cup, FC Sparta Corinthians made the long trip to Reading to take on Diamond Black FC who are going well in The Reading & District Sunday League Premier Division.  It was an 8.30 start for James Baxter's Prem champions and the journey was well worth it as they came home 5-2 winners. Leon Gordon grabbed a hat trick whilst Seb Page chipped in with a brace.  Meanwhile, a waterlogged pitch at Haywood way meant that VTS FC's home tie with Readings Dee Road Rangers FC was postponed.

In The Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Trophy, three of our new sides for this season remained in the competition before kick off today, but sadly, two were drawn against each other.  Our top two Div Two sides faced each other in what is arguably the game of the day though sadly, the appointed referee failed to show up!!  Jakemans Sports took on Stoke Mandeville for a place in round five and it turned out to be a dissapointing day for the visitors as Jakeman's won it comfortably 4-1.

In the other tie, Aylesbury Town took on Chesham Sunday Leagues Eldorado Diamonds Reserves at Meadowcroft and here's some of the action:

The dog and I set off for Haywood Way hoping to catch the game between VTS and Dee Road Rangers.
It soon came apparent it wasn't happening, so we turned round and headed the half a mile so back to Meadowcroft.

The River Thame burst its banks a while ago and this meant no games at Meadowcroft on Saturday, so we weren't hopeful of seeing any action...

...but we were wrong!!
Referee Ian Macleod (seen here showing his best side) keeps an eye on the early action.

Aylesbury Town started the stronger, but the visitors could have caught them on the break - this effort went over...

...and the same player saw this effort come to nothing.

Town come close with this header...

PENALTY...?

Mr Macleod pointed to the spot and Chris Hill coolly slots it home to make it 1-0.

Captain fantastic Chris hill was head and shoulders above everyone else all morning.

Town's Angelo Mendicino demands more from his team-mates as the second half gets underway.

This Town effort goes close...

...before James Green rounds the keeper to put the ball into the empty net,2-0.

Great save, but pull your pants up mate...

The much more suitably attired Aylesbury Town keeper.

After a brilliant cross from the right, Simon Shaw (6) gets his head on this one...

...it looks in all the way...

...3.0.

It's not funny when you take one in the privates, especially on a cold day like this...

...but after a quick stock take, all appeared to be accounted for!

Chris Hill makes it 4-0 with this long range effort.

Aylesbury Town skipper Chris Hill.
Man of the match by a mile.
Final score, Aylesbury Town 4, Eldorado Diamonds Res 0.

Our two domestic cup comps have barely got underway this season and today in The Tony Higginson Cup, Meadowcroft United put up a brave fight before going down take 3-1 to holders Elm Farm at Walton Court who now face Ickford in the next round.

This seasons Chris Payne Trophy has seen only one first round tie completed with Unique FC making it through with a fine 8-0 win over Thame Athletic.  There was just the one tie this Sunday as Excel Dents lost out 2-1 to cup specialist Chearsley Cricketers to Fairford Leys.

In The Prem, Britannia United completed the list of teams to visit Springhill FC with both sides feeling that three points were a must if they are to have any chance of catching unbeaten leaders FC Sparta Corinthians.  In a dramatic game, it was The Brit who came home 4-3 winners to put them back in contention for the title.  Padbury AFC beat Nags 3-1 at Springfields to move themselves off the foot of the table whilst the game between Bucks (Aylesbury) and Ickford was postponed,

In Div One, leaders The Square widened the gap at the top after a fine 5-0 win away at AS Cavese.  AFC Waddesdon came from behind to draw 1-1 with Aristocrat FC.  Andrew George equalized with what has been reported as a '25 yard thunderbolt', however, this has now gone to about 40 yards according to his team mates who are listening too it down the pub!!  FC Torpedo Aylesbury and FC Sparta Corinthians Reserves were sides neck and neck in the top half of the table before they met today and they remain so after a 2-2 draw this morning.  Unique FC welcomed Cheddington to Weston Turville with both sides occupying mid table positions at the start of play today.  Chedd fought back after going 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 to eventually grab a 4-4 draw with Nick Little getting a hat trick for Unique - Stuart Philbey got the other.

Today's Division Two’s was a complete disaster.

FC Wanderers versus Ickford Reserves and St Johns versus Thame Athletic were both postponed with the home sides unable to get themselves a pitch and you won't be surprised that Southcourt Spitfires versus Winslow Town was off as both sides are still suspended - great!!!
