'Mixed fortunes' is the usual
saying on these occasions and this certainly applies to some of our sides
in today's cup competitions.
In The
Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup, the all Aylesbury
tie ended in a 3-1 win for Halifax (Aylesbury) over Yeoman FC in a game
that eventually took place at Kimble Cricket Club. AFC Belgrave
switched venues for their tie with Leighton Buzzard Leagues Pitstone
(Sunday) FC and they had no luck at Westcott Sports & Leisure Centre
as the visitors ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.
In The
Berks & Bucks FA Sunday Junior Trophy, Chearsley Cricketers had their tie
with MK's Fenny Lock FC switched to Towersey, but even this couldn't help
our side raise a side and the game didn't go ahead. The County FA
will decide on the outcome of this but it's fair to say that the Cricketers
are out!! Nags Head FC are our only side left with chance of winning
every competition they have entered this season. They booked their
place in the next round of The County Cup with a 3-1 win over FC Wanderers
at Fairford Leys.
In our
domestic cup comps, Bucks (Aylesbury) continued their dominance over old enemies
Padbury Utd Res with an easy 4-0 win. The Bell Topboys were given
some idea of how tough things may be next season as they took on Premier
Division leaders FC Aristocrat at Bierton. The Prem side shone
through with a 7-3 win in the end. Aston Clinton S&SC have had a
difficult week and things didn't look like getting any better in their
away tie with Chandos Arms as the home side raced too a 2-0 lead early
on. In the end, class showed as current cup runners up ran out 5-2
winners in the end. On the second day of the season, Unique FC took
on Premier Division newsboys Rockwood FC in the first round of The Vale of
Aylesbury Cup. Unique eventually won this one penalties and who'd of
guessed that history would repeat itself today? With the score
standing at 3-3 after extra time, Unique FC did it again and held their
nerve to win the penalty shoot out.
In The
Chris Payne Trophy, there was another dramatic 3-3 draw at the end of
extra time in the game between Padbury AFC and Excel Dents at
Springfields. In the end it was the visitors who secured their place
in round two with a nail biting penalty shoot out victory.
Cublington are through to round two with a 4-2 win over Cheddington
Reserves and Ickford Reserves eased past Winslow Town 8-1. Aylesbury
Exiles lost out to Thame athletic 3-2 in a league fixture last time out,
but there was some revenge for Rob Henry's men today is they go into the
hat for the next round draw with a 6-2 win.
