Reigning
champions VTS FC may have thought that they had got one hand on that
Premier Division trophy after last weeks victory over Aston Clinton
S&SC - even this early on in the season. Despite a depleted league
of only six sides, it promises to be a tight one this season as promoted
Rockwood FC pulled off a staggering 5-2 win over VTS this morning and go
level on points at the top of the table.
Aston
Clinton S&SC v Ickford and FC Aristocrat v Chandos Arms were both
postponed.
In
Division One, there's no stopping Halifax (Aylesbury) as they kept up
their 100% winning start to the season with a 3-0 win over a battling
Grenson FC at Kimble. The Bell Topboys regain top spot tonight as
player/manager Shayne Simpson nets twice in their 3-0 win against Unique
FC. It's not all good news for The Topboys this week though as top
striker Nathan Graham has been rewarded for his goal scoring efforts for
Aylesbury
United FC with a contract for The Southern League side thus ruling
him out from playing on a Sunday. AFC Belgrave made it two defeats
from two for Cublington in their new home venue at Wingrave, 5-1 the
final score to the visitors. Two of our sides that have been
struggling to keep their very existence in the league going both had big
wins today. Terry Medd's Stone won 3-2 away at Yeoman whilst it
was a first win for new Padbury Utd Res boss Craig Rumble as they beat
their old rivals Bucks (Aylesbury) 2-1 at Springfields.
In
Div Two, Elm Farm remain top tonight after their emphatic 7-1 win over
Excel Dents. Right behind them are Kenny Askham's Nags Head FC as
they came away from a wet and windy Towersey with all three points
against Chearsley Cricketers. Here's some of the action:

A first visit for me and the dog to a very wet and windy Towersey Sports
& Social Club.

With a strong wind behind them, Nags Head tried their luck with this
effort right from the kick off.
Chearsley Cricketers keeper Larry Warr was waiting to gather it up
though.

Just a few moments later, keeper Warr is left stranded as Nags Head's
Steve Holmes shot come cross ends up in the back of the net...

...then he tries to tell his team mates that he meant it!!

As the conditions worsened, Cricketers' Adam Lazaruk tried his luck from
fully 40 yards out.
It caught out the Nags keeper and me - but here are the celebrations as
he made it 1-1 approaching half time.

Chearsley Cricketers veteran Adam Lazaruk.

It looked like going into the interval all square before referee Matt Blanco
awarded the visitors a penalty. Up stepped Fraser Lamble...

...and gives the keeper no chance to make it 2-1 at the break.

Referee Matt Blanco with his head on upside down again!!!

Any chance of a comeback for the Cricketers was short lived as Danny Job
(far left) scores early on in the second half.

Naps Head skipper Dave Dyke.

The Cricketers kept up the pressure as this effort is brilliantly saved
by the Nags keeper...

...and this header goes narrowly wide.

Nags Head boss Kenny Askham (right) helps off one if his injured
players.

Veteran keeper Larry Warr kept is side in the game with a string of fine
saves...

...but there was nothing he could do to prevent Danny Job getting his
second and securing a vital 4-1 win that keeps the Nags in the promotion
hunt.
In
the rest of the games in Div Two, Aylesbury Exiles kept up their good start
to the season with a 3-0 win at home to AFC Padbury whilst Thame
Athletic won 1-0 away at struggling FC Wanderers. The reserve
sides of Cheddington and Ickford shared the points in an entertaining
3-3 draw and Walton Street Rangers celebrated their biggest win in the
their short history with a stunning 5-0 victory away to struggling
Winslow Town.
