Chandos Arms suffer last minute heartache in their 8 goal thriller with Aston Clinton S&SC.  All square between Rockwood and Ickford
In Div Two, Topboys beat their closest title rivals Halifax (Aylesbury).  Unique win away at Padbury and Yeoman secure their first win since October 2007!
In Div Two, Elm Farm look home and dry after thumping Winslow Town, Thame beat local rivals Ickford Res and it's vital away wins for promotion chasing Excel Dents and Cheddington Reserves

Aston Clinton S&SC suffered a huge blow to their title aspirations as they drew 4-4 at home to Chandos Arms this morning.  The visitors, who were playing their first league game of 2008, were winning 4-1 and the home sides blushes were only spared with a last minute equalizer.  The result looks like being the last straw for Aston Clinton boss John Roberts who has reportedly quit!  In today's other Prem game, Rockwood and Ickford drew 1-1.

The top two met on Div One this morning as The Bell Topboys welcomed Halifax (Aylesbury) to Bierton Sports Centre.

Here's some of the action:

A first visit to Bierton Sports Centre...

...and something tells me it won't be the last!!

It would turn out to be a stunning goalkeeping performance from Halifax's Adam Sawyers seen here saving early on from Topboys' Leon Gordon.

Topboys early season signing from Haydon Hill, Jo Chapman.

Sky's Andy Gray would be delighted with this defending as the defender holds his position on the far post to clear off the line.

Topboys go 1-0 up after 15 minutes.

Topboys' Daniel Collings with today's referee Brian Sinclair.

Leon Gordon is denied once again by keeper Sawyers...

...but the follow up leaves him with no chance as the Topboys take a 2-0 lead.

Topboys two in front!

Leon Gordon.

Halifax came back into the game after the break...

...before Skipper Kerry Jeffrey (9) makes it 3-0.

I like Bierton!

Fil Festa is through on goal for Halifax...

...will it go in..?

...yes it does, 3-1 now...

...Game on!

Halifax striker Bobby Dillon is denied by Topboys keeper Andy Blackburn.

Daniel Collings was non too pleased to be substituted late on!

More heroics from Halifax keeper Adam Sawyers...

...and more...

...and more...

...and try as he can to keep out Shayne Simpson...

...the Topboys Player/Manager slams it home to make it 4-1.

Well done Dad!
Final score, The Bell Topboys 4, Halifax (Aylesbury) 1.

In the other games, Unique FC warmed up for next weeks Tony Higginson Cup semi with troubled Aston Clinton S&SC with a 7-3 win away to Padbury United Reserves and Yeoman FC won their first game since the 21st October 2007 with a 2-1 win over Grenson.  The game between Bucks (Aylesbury) and Stone FC was postponed as the pitch was unfit!!

In Div Two, leaders Elm Farm looked to have an unassailable lead at the top of the table after they beat Winslow Town 9-2 today.  They are 8 points clear with several games in hand over the chasing pack.  In that pack are Excel Dents who bounced back after last weeks shock defeat to Padbury AFC with a 8-4 win away at Chearsley Cricketers and Cheddington Reserves continue their late surge for promotion with a narrow 3-2 win away to FC Wanderers.  In the final game, Thame Athletic made the short trip to play Ickford Res and came away with an impressive 3-1 win.
