INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE

ZERO TOLERANCE APPROACH

Match Official’s who attended a recent FAMAO training day were instructed that they must implement a ZERO TOLERANCE policy from the opening day of the season.

• Referees are instructed to implement LAW 12 of the law’s of association football in respect of this policy.

• Club’s were advised of the policy at the clubs meeting held on the 9th August.

The Laws state that:
" A player is sent-off and shown the red card if he uses offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures".

There has been some new amendments to the laws of the game for new season, but none that should really affect us.  However, there has been an amendment to laws regarding the celebrating of a goal.  You can expect to be cautioned for climbing on fences, removing your shirt and making provocative gestures, however, in addition, FIFA have added the following text in relation to this:

A player must be cautioned when:

'He covers his head or face with a mask or other similar item to celebrate a goal'

Lose the masks gents!!
